Journal History

JOURNAL HISTORY

As a scientific journal that is still in its initiation and development stage, we realize that this early journey is not without significant challenges. The publication of this journal reflects our commitment to providing a platform for disseminating community service works from various fields of knowledge. However, due to existing limitations, several ideal aspects of journal management have not yet been fully achieved.

One of the main challenges lies in the availability of manuscripts. Community service outputs have not yet become a primary publication choice for many academics, making it difficult for us to consistently obtain high-quality articles. This has affected our publication schedule, even leading to delays, and in some editions, articles were published outside the planned months. In urgent situations, there were also manuscripts processed without undergoing the proper peer-review stages. This is not something we take pride in; however, we consider it a necessary measure to ensure the journal’s continuity while remaining committed to improving this process in the future.

Another challenge relates to credibility and reputation. As a new journal, we have not yet achieved sufficient visibility, either in search engines or within national and international indexing networks. This has contributed to the relatively low interest of authors in submitting manuscripts.

From a technical perspective, we are still in the process of learning to manage the Open Journal System (OJS) optimally. Several technical issues—such as metadata input, DOI management, and editorial workflows—have not yet run smoothly. These remain areas for improvement, which we are gradually addressing through internal training and institutional support.

We recognize that journal accreditation standards, as established in the ARJUNA system, involve rigorous procedures and high-quality principles. Therefore, this statement is not intended as justification, but rather as a form of transparency and a request for understanding, so that the dynamics and challenges we face can be seen as part of a learning process. Our commitment moving forward is to improve all editorial processes, ensure publication consistency, and enhance the quality and professional management of the journal.

With a collaborative spirit, we hope this journal will continue to grow into a credible medium for disseminating community service outcomes, while also supporting the recognition of community service as an essential component of the tridharma of higher education.
